#IndonesianIdol

I don't usually watch reality TV shows because they're carefully orchestrated to add some drama and flair by the companies (like Master Chef; I watched it for the yummy food, not the over-the-top drama), but these past few weeks found me glued to the TV screen whenever Indonesian Idol aired. Some of the contestants really have it in them to become big hits!

My mom, who's been watching it since the auditions, told me how some of them come from difficult backgrounds; one was a beggar (but he's very well-mannered! I almost couldn't believe it), the mother of another contestant sold their chickens so that her son could go to the audition, while another one has had to experience a riches-to-rags story and is now trying to restore her family's reputation. Way to tug at my heartstrings, FremantleMedia.

My votes go to Yoda, Dion, Regina, and Sean; though I also support Rosa and Sandy. They have just performed popular girl/boy band songs in groups of three, and their performances were brilliant! Go get them, guys!

SET PHASERS TO LOVE ME

Something happened while I was scanning my external HDD and now I can't see all my files. They seem to be there but I can't access them at all.

I'm really really freaking out. I can't stop shaking and my heartbeat rivals that of a person watching a scary movie while on a treadmill after drinking a dozen cans of energy drink.

And to think that just this afternoon everything was going well. I was a fucking fool to even dare to think that.

ohmygoddddddd *cries and cuddles hamsters*

New Year's envelope in March

More Gintoki/Tsukuyo interaction yay! :D there's also a LOT of dirty jokes, though that's pretty normal for Gintama. I really like Tsukuyo, she's strong (both physically and mentally) and dependable, a great onee-san figure who also has her own adorable traits (like getting violent after getting drunk from a bourbon chocolate). I wish she had more screen time! I've never thought I'd ship Gin-san romantically with anyone, but as soon as she first appeared during the Yoshiwara arc in episode 177, I knew it had to be her. Sorachi-sensei is the best!

Oh and Ning-chan, here goes. See, I drew her chomping on a fish in the riverbank. Though that can be changed :P

If any of you are tech people...

The 'My Pictures' folder in my Windows XP Home Edition doesn't show folder names anymore.

I think I fumbled and tapped the ctrl button twice or so while selecting multiple files in one of the folders.

Any help would be appreciated (since Microsoft only takes emails from US and Canada visitors...) Thanks!

Two things.

The Happy Holidays Post... and then some more.

Merry Christmas, Kwanzaa, Yule, Hanukkah, etc to you guys who celebrate them :) Happy holidays to all of you :)

Mine has been... endurable so far. Aside from my mother not talking to me for reasons I don't know of, her harping to me about things I haven't done (which was only to sort laundry out), and the extended family gathering I was forced to go to last night, it was okay. I'm perfectly fine just staying at home doing stuff on my laptop.

Okay, I did enjoy the karaoke session with my cousins last night. Apparently they were rather shocked that I'd sing something like Fall Out Boy (stupid machine didn't have enough New Found Glory), and they said that was unexpected of me to have such a 'hard' taste in music. LOL.

------------

On another note, I've been watching Castle, the crime TV series in which a mystery novelist gets to be on an NYPD detective's cases and follows her around to help her catch criminals and do research on his new book. I'm on S03E13 now. And so far, I can't help but think that America would be perfect for the role of Richard Castle the novelist who's imaginative, childish but smart, albeit less self-absorbed and 'loose' and not having two ex-wifes and living with a daughter and a mother. England would be perfect for Kate Beckett the detective because she's more mature, and she always tries to argue with Castle and would pretend she doesn't like his company (well, as much as him following her around can be called company) when in truth she actually likes it. Tsundere much?

I mean, there is so much UST between Castle and Beckett, much like America and England XD though I'm pretty miffed that they haven't resolved it yet when it's so obvious they're a match and it's been three seasons already.

I can also imagine the tech-savvy Japan and France as Ryan and Esposito, the two assisting detectives respectively. Then Taiwan can be Japan's girlfriend (like Jenny and Ryan), and Seychelles can be Lanie, the one analysing dead bodies (I think she's pretty tough, and then she can be France's girlfriend, like Lanie and Esposito).

This is my fangirling brain refusing to stop spewing nonsense. But it's been in my head for almost a week. I mean, can't you imagine America suggesting alien abduction as the cause of a murder, playing with light sabers at home, getting excited to visit a magic shop, and being best buds with everyone including the Mayor? Also, England being aloof at times, teasing America at other times, having a rather illustrious youth as a delinquent, and donning that deadpan look? IT SO FITS.

Other than that, it's a rather nice series to watch, and I enjoy every episode because of the interesting murders and character interaction. Though I'm a bit sad because there's no continuous plotline in every episode like there is in White Collar. And the humour is pretty hilarious.

On the wagon again

DW account here as a backup. Feel free to add me if you have one; I'll add you back (later). I haven't done anything there; maybe tonight.

I'm mostly pissed at how LJ's reacting towards the complaints. And the disappearance of comment subject lines. But most importantly, where is Verdana 9pt? THE Verdana 9pt? I've grown so used to it, and now due to their so-called 'update' the kink meme and comms use this font which is not roundish and not easy to read.

Oh LJ, don't you know the basic rule of thumb in business: customer is king? It is you that has to provide the services and upgrade them according to the users' preferences, and you should not expect the users to adapt to your shenanigans. What you think is an improvement is not what the users think is an improvement. If people don't like your services, they will look for others with the services they want. Which is why more and more are migrating (temporarily, but if you keep this up it's permanently) to Dreamwidth or just abandoning this site. Your stubbornness will be your downfall.

Christmas Wishlist

Joining in on the bandwagon just because (and honestly, I've never thought about what I really want. Hmm.) I'm not even sure I should be posting this. I AM capable of granting a few wishes from some wishlists, but it'll be done AFTER Christmas has come round. I mean, it's a Christmas wishlist. Should I still do them? It's the thought that counts, right? Right?

Step One ⇞

1 Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered ... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list your holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a fandom icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

2 If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

3 Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two ⇞

1 Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

2 If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

List:
1. New Found Glory's 2006 album "Coming Home". It stole my heart.

2. Internet. I've been stealing my bro's internet for a while and his chair stinks to high heaven :'( seriously, how long can it take to fix a cable?

3. Time, time, and more time to draw fandom-related stuff and fanarts for people. I have soooo much I want to draw.

4. Time to read some good books I have collecting dust in my shelf. Recs, anyone? E-books would be nice, too.

5. Good health for everyone. And a good 2012.

6. Getting in touch with my friends back during the JC years. /sap

7. Postcards from anyone, anywhere? I love mail-related stuff.

8. For finals to just end already XD Snow in my city :'D /sobIknowit'shopeless

SECRET. SANTA.

MY PRESENT CAME.

OH GOODNESS. /DIES

I picked the right time to steal my bro's internet. The author really did the prompt justice and then some. Unf butler!Alfred AND master!Arthur is something we (I) need more of. I melted from all the domestic fluff and sap. And there's so many bits of the fic that I like, such as the breakfast in the rose garden, Arthur's parents visiting... I should be doing my homework but I keep re-reading it!

Now I feel really bad for not having finished my gift yet :/ go, me! /is pumped up

Intro Post

Hello! :) This is the semi-friends only blog of a shy and quiet marimo that goes by the name Jane. She is currently studying in a local university in Surabaya, Indonesia, taking the Visual Communications Design course.

Here she posts ramblings, rants, and random bursts of discoveries about everything and anything, including but not limited to art, anime/manga, fandom, school, and herself. She thinks this blog is a good way to release pent-up thoughts and bottled-up feelings.

Here are some things about her (in point form):

☂ Her fandoms include Axis Powers Hetalia, Gintama, Mushishi, Aria, One Piece, Kino no Tabi, Baccano!!, Bakemonogatari, Natsume Yuujinshou, Doctor Who, Community, White Collar, Ace Attorney, FF9 etc.

☂ Her favourite pairings are USA/UK, Belarus/Russia, Greece/Japan, Austria/Hungary, Switzerland+Liechtenstein, Hungary+Japan, America+Japan (Axis Powers Hetalia); Gintoki/Tsukuyo, Okita/Kagura (Gintama); Doctor/Rose (Doctor Who). She is a monoshipper and the seme/uke thing doesn't matter to her; love is love!

☂ She is an Anglophile who wishes to go there someday just to eat fish and chips, hug a red phone box, and see Stonehenge.

☂ She is a cynic and optimist simultaneously.

☂ She is an idealist and a romantic at heart.

☂ She is an aspiring artist/designer.

☂ She loves all things related to snail mail (stamps, postcards, etc), vintage stuff, royalty/monarchy stuff, old books. Her other interests include archaeology and dinosaurs, Japanese culture, encyclopaedias.

☂ She reads. Her two favourite authors are Neil Gaiman and Haruki Murakami. Her favourite books include His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, Abarat by Clive Barker, Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, How I Became Stupid by Martin Page, Brave Story by Miyuki Miyabe, A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson.

☂ She also reads a ton of manga.

☂ She believes that unicorns, dragons, and the Loch Ness monster are real, as are other mythical creatures.

☂ She has pet hamsters which she loves very much.

☂ Her favourite artists/bands are New Found Glory, The Spill Canvas, Snow Patrol, Owl City, Vanessa Carlton, Five for Fighting, Fall Out Boy, The Rescues. She listens to Irish/Scottish folk music and anime songs, too.

☂ Her favourite quote is: "May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself." -Neil Gaiman

AW YEAH

I've actually seen it before I came home just now but

Batman!US and Robin!UK

Must. Draw. Fanart. Nowww.

EDIT: So I'm done properly squeeing in the privacy of my room (though I think my bro can hear me from outside). I'm really, REALLY glad I got into this fandom and USUK, because, seriously, Hetaween's made me really happy and all; I did today's work in a positively cheerful mood +o+

And, the USUK moments are just PRECIOUS. The tiny little note behind England's ear, them meeting up, England being America's first follower on Twitter (SQUEE!), England actually agreeing to wear that Robin costume to pair with Batman!America, their bickering and sexual tension in public... I can't help but think that the reason why America chose England to be his partner was not just because England's his first follower :D you get my drift?

Other than that, I love the costume groups Hima-sensei has drawn for this event. Alice!Belarussss ;A; she's so gorgeous <333 and so is Belgium in her red riding hood. The Nordics as pirates really made my inner pirate!fangirl squeal in joy (and the costumes are really interesting). The Asians and Germans are also very awesome, but what caught my attention was Cuba, Cameroon, and.... India! Cuba in a bunny waiter outfit was too cute XDDD seriously, Hima, what's with you and waiter outfits? Cameroon's shy attitude was very endearing X3 and his (tiger?) lion actually graduated an art academy! LOLOLOL India's portrayal was not what I had in mind (a pretty, dark-skinned girl), but he sounds like such a gentleman in his conversation with Prussia. He just gives this really nice vibe, and seems likable.

Also, I keep laughing at Mochimerica and its (his?) antics. And Grandpa Rome!!

Haha, I'll draw something later tonight :))) I feel really refreshed. Thank you Hima-sensei, and all the kind people who have translated the Halloween comics! <3

I'm a day late, but still.

Happy anniversary to my scholar friends (and me, too, I guess)!

I swear I remembered about this day, like, two weeks ago, but I fail so much that I forgot about it on the actual day XD

It's been five years since we left to study in Singapore together. Thank you for being such awesome friends; I've always looked up to you, and you really inspired me to be better. I'm sorry for all the wrongs I've done to you.

I never regretted coming to Singapore, because I got to meet and know you all. You'll always have a place in my heart; beautiful, vibrant colours on the canvas of my life.

Love,
Jane, the quiet girl with the marimo :)

PS: I really, really want to send postcards to you if that's cool :D PM me your current address on Twitter?

Hold it!

These days, it's been like a mini roller-coaster ride to me. I'm happy with my ideas/concepts for my assignment(s) and drawings, but other things constantly bug me. I've been sick for a week now, my brother keeps being the asshole he is, and some subjects I'm taking in uni are just pure torture to sit through *coughEthicsTutorialcough* (though, we did watch Fireproof during a lesson and I loved the sappiness). Also, I've been inexplicably having my emo-period where I just want to do nothing but listen to Secondhand Serenade.

I'm pretty sure I'll cheer myself up if I draw, so that's what I'm gonna do after my nap. In the meantime...

Official Phoenix Wright real live action movie Y/Y?

Sooo...

Just survived midterms.

Apart from spreading my Hetalia virus (as well as USxUK; I'm so proud of myself, Ning!) to quite a lot of people (well, the definition of 'a lot' may differ, but) and watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, I've been spending my free time (or what was left of it nowadays) doing homework and chipping away at fanarts I owe people. I ought to be shot for not finishing anything at all and being a slowpoke.

Of Hetalia and Avatar: The Last Airbender (contains stalking, impressions, and some ranting) )

Of movies I've watched lately )

Recently, one of my groupmates talked to me that she found it disgusting that Michelangelo was gay, which she knew about when researching for a summary of Renaissance, and gave me some invalid arguments (which she sadly didn't realise). I almost wanted to tell her that homophobia is gay, but I held back. Oh, the narrow-mindedness of people here. I feel like I could choke at any moment.
