Summary: AU. London pub owner Arthur Kirkland is driven rather mad by American soldiers on leave during World War Two. And by one in particular… loud, brash fighter pilot Alfred Jones. But are Arthur's feelings of irritation just a cover for something else?
My heart's swelling with so much joy it hurts :'D
Arthur's emotions on the days following Alfred's departure felt so... real to me. His longing to meet Alfred was heartbreaking, even more so because of the letters Alfred sent him, reciprocating those feelings back. And Alfred's still the adorable Yank that we love, even when wrapped up in bandages in the hospital. They're just... them. I don't know how to express the feeling I had after I finished reading this; it was moving, to say the very least. And the little snapshots of what happened nearing the end of the war tied everything really well.
Ugh, I can't make proper, coherent comments; this left me speechless still. Thank you, beloved author, for writing this. Just. Fantastic. More so because it's USxUK. Go read itttt
look what I found on my first foray into FFnet. no I should not open FFnet and look for fics; that would keep me glued to my laptop for weeks *restrains self*
